Problems of water in Sttinkwater Hammanskraal after 20 years of democracy

Stinkwater is rural village in Hammanskraal just outside pretoria, this area is over populated with more than 500,000 residents, and despite  20 years of democracy, the people of stinkwater are still living under poor condition, which are harsh to the basic condition of human being.

The community of stinkwater is living under poor conditions  and one of them is lack of water and poor sanitation and also lack of housing and proper infustruture.

But the more rare issue that affect the people of this community, is lack of water.

We spoke to one of the residents who refused to be identified and he  told cover 24 that he has been living in stinkwater since 80s and till today they still lack water and service delivery.

He complained that councilors are living in big houses and drive most expensive cars while people are suffering , he says everytime the councillors calls the meeting he and his officials promise them a big fat lie.

Our councillor "Aaron Maluleka" does not deliver, he keeps telling us lie, he forgets that (we ) are the one who voted for him, he drive big bmw cars and own two big houses in state money, at his home they have water and flashing toilets while we the people of stinkwater are suffering.

He said he appeals to the goverment to step in and help the community of stinkwater at large.

Community of stinkwater is still underdeveloping community ,despite the budget issued by the presidency each and every year, this community has a high crime rate, high numbers of addictions and drug user, lack of employement and issues of teenage pregnacy, lack of proper infustructure, lack of health faccilities .

Despite the votes for the new democratic country,  till today the poeple in community is still living under harsh conditions,

cover24 was by the site when people drew the water from the desorted storm water nearby the main road, the old lady in this picture told us `this water is filthy and is hard to get water here as pensioner and mostly quitetly the ques are full and i get sick more oftenly, despite our plead as the community members to our councillor , our voices just fell into the deaf ears.

  1. the local government can put a few million rand towards buying some jojo tanks for every 2 or 3 households in the interim, while someone has to start a project o solve the water crisis in stinkwater. With jojo tanks, we can put all this lots of rainwater to good use.
